HITS Saugerties

Tycho and I had a great time at HITS Saugerties. I ended up with a 71.6% and first place in my 4th level Test 1 class on Friday. On Saturday we ended up with a 67.2% and 5th place in a huge class. My 71.6% from Saturday earned me the Jamie Rudolph Memorial award that was given to me during the awards ceremony for the Grand Prix Freestyles.

Princess

Princess was  a star at the Windswept Farm schooling show and earned two blue ribbons in her Training Level 3 and 4 classes. Video of her Training Level 4 class is available on her page.

July 2010

GMHA and UNH

Tycho and I had a good time at UNH and GMHA shows. I used both shows for schooling and ended up with 1st and 2nd at GMHA with scores in the 60s. At UNH my scores were in the mid 60s and Tycho started to work a bit harder in the show arena.

Princess

Our sale horse Princess received a 66% at Training Level Test 2 at her very first dressage show. She was a star! Congratulations Princess!

June 2010

GMHA

I had a wonderful show with Tycho at the June GMHA. We were first in both our classes (Friday and Saturday) and also High Score of the day 4th level Open on both days, and my Saturday 68% at 4th level Test 1 earned me the 4th level Open High Score of the Show.

UNH

The June UNH show was a pleasant experience for me and Tycho. We used it more for schooling and experience in the show ring and still ended up with two second place ribbons. Here are some pictures:

Frodo aka Frikandel

Ariella foaled a gorgeous colt by Rousseau. We named him Frodo. He is very energetic and friendly. We are very pleased with him.

Ashley

Ashley is in training under saddle for the winter. She is doing very well. She is proving to be a quick learner and very willing to work. Her attitude under saddle is impeccable. She will be bred in the spring to Farrington.

Zuidenwind

Sire of Elmarees was sold to Sweden in the winter of 2008/2009 and has been an extremely successful sire over there. He was the most popular sire of 2009. (source: www.eurodressage.com)
He also received a favorable foal report in Holland. This is his foal report (bold mine):

"A collection of more than sufficiently developed foals which vary quite a bit in type, from short-bodied to good dressage horse conformation. The head is sufficiently attractive but sometimes long. The neck has good length, but an under-neck was observed in several instances. In some cases, the neck should tie in smoother with the wither. The wither is sufficiently long and developed. The shoulder has sufficient length and slope. The back varies in length and is often dropped. The loin has more than sufficient muscling and is connected well to the body. The croup has good length, angle, and muscling. The front legs are more than sufficiently long and often toe-in.The hind legs are often angled (sickle-hocked).The legs show good development and more than sufficient quality. The walk is active with more than sufficient stride length. The trot has good stride length and is generally uphill. The canter has good stride length. The foals move with good balance and abundant suppleness."

Young horses

Elmarees (Zuidenwind x Trento B x Bustron) is developing nicely and at 10 months old he is nearly 15hh tall. He is very sensitive horse and a really big, supple mover. Emmanuella (Johnson x Trento B x Zortin) is also growing up nicely. She is not as big as Elmarees. I took some pictures of them today in the snow:

Here are couple of pictures from the show (it was quite muddy):

I took some new videos of Elmarees and Romeo, which can be found on their individual pages (go to Foals 2008 for Romeo's page and Foals 2009 for Eddie's page). When Ariella and Emma come back from the vet's farm I will update Emma's page as well.

More pictures of Emmanuella

I started a page for "Emma" here and added some pictures of her at 3 days old.

Welcome Emmanuella!

Ariella gave birth to a gorgeous filly by Johnson (Jazz x Flemmingh) on Friday, May 14th. We named her Emmanuella. Here are a couple of pictures of her at 12 hours old:

April 2009

Eddy becomes Elmarees

We finally came up with a name for "Eddy" - Elmarees. It means southern wind, just like Zuidenwind. (According to a legend, Allah made the Arabian horse from a handful of the southern wind) Eddy is doing great and growing very fast. He has beautiful gaits - his canter is especially balanced and expressive. He has been very easy to deal with and he always tries to do the "right thing". He is a such a pleasure to have here on the farm!

Ariella TOP TEN IN HOLLAND in Mare Performance Tests in 2008

I just found out that after a compilation of all scores of all Mare Performance Tests in Hollland in 2008, our mare Ariella tied together with two other mares for 8th/9th/10th place in all of Holland! We are proud to have such a fantastic mare as part of our breeding program! Ariella is in foal to Johnson (Jazz x Flemmingh) for a 2009 foal.

We are now located near Concord, New Hampshire. The horses have 13 acres to roam on and the view form the property is absolutely beautiful. Here are some pictures taken at the new farm:
